Instagram has been an essential social media marketing platform for a while now. Many marketers hate to manage Instagram accounts for clients because of the lack of third party scheduling options (except for Schedugram which we use and love), the inability to upload from desktop (again, Schedugram) and the fact that you have to log in and out every time you want to switch accounts.
Instagram has FINALLY fixed the latter.
Everyone should be able to get this new feature (comment below if you don’t have the option yet). It’s pretty easy to get it too.
Step 1: Update your Instagram App
Duh.
Step 2: Log in with your primary account
The way that it’s set up now is that if you log in with an account (ex: @migftl, me), then connect other accounts after you login (ex: I added @newcontentcollective and a couple clients), you can only access all those accounts at once by logging in as @migftl. If I logged in as @newcontentcollective, I wouldn’t automatically get access to @migftl. More importantly, if I log into a client account, that client Instagram wouldn’t have access to @newcontentcollective or other client Instagrams. In reality, you can’t ever log out without disconnecting an account(s), as it’s currently set up.
Step 3: Click on the 3 dots (Options)
See screenshot
Step 4: Scroll to the bottom of the options, and click “Add Account”
After clicking “Add Account”, it’s pretty self-explanatory. You can have up to 5 accounts.
Step 5: Switch between accounts from your profile page
In the top left corner of your profile page, you should now see a little triangle that expands to show all your linked accounts.
That’s it! Now if only Instagram could allow more options for scheduling and desktop uploads– one thing at a time.
Enjoy the new feature. I know we definitely will.
